Who makes Infiniti cars?

Infiniti is Nissan’s luxury marque, created in Japan and launched in the United States in 1989. Its first car was the Q45 sedan, which introduced the brand’s focus on performance and driver-centred design. Infiniti’s range has since included sedans, coupes and SUVs.

How has the Infiniti range developed?

The earlier catalogue includes long-running nameplates such as the M, G and Q45, alongside sedans including the I30, I35 and J30. The M ran from 1990 to 2015, the G from 1991 to 2014, and the Q45 from 1990 to 2006. SUVs became a larger part of the range too: the FX arrived in 2003, followed by models such as the QX56 and QX4.

Later, Infiniti shifted its naming towards Q and QX badges. The Q50 and Q60 filled the saloon and coupe roles, while the QX family covered crossovers and larger SUVs. The QX50 and QX60 became enduring parts of the range, alongside the full-size QX80. The compact Q30 and QX30 both ended in 2020.

Which Infiniti models have been most prominent in Europe?

In official EU registration figures, the Q30 leads among the listed Infiniti models, with 36,964 registrations from 2015 to 2020. The Q50 follows with 24,154 from 2013 to 2020. The FX recorded 9,944 from 2010 to 2014, while the QX70 and QX30 also feature among the more widely registered models.

The European range included compact hatchbacks and crossovers as well as executive saloons and larger SUVs. Infiniti vehicles are also covered by official UK, French, US and Canadian sources. Test procedures differ by market: Europe uses WLTP or, for older models, NEDC; the USA uses EPA testing; and Canada uses the 5-cycle method. Figures from different procedures are not directly comparable.

What is Infiniti’s approach to electrification?

Infiniti’s range has included petrol and diesel models. Its model history also includes QX vehicles listed through 2027, but a model name alone does not identify its powertrain. Check the specifications for the particular market and model year to see its engine, fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.
