About TheCarCodex.com

TheCarCodex.com lays out the official fuel consumption, CO₂, engine and power figures of cars sold in the European Union, the United Kingdom, France, the United States and Canada, as each market's authorities publish them.

What you find here

Each make has a page listing its models, each model a page with its generations, and each generation a page with every version per market: engine, power, fuel, gearbox, combined consumption, CO₂ and, for electric cars, range. The search box finds a car by make, model, generation, year, engine size or power.

Where the figures come from

The figures come from five official datasets: the European Environment Agency's registration data, the UK Vehicle Certification Agency, ADEME in France, the U.S. EPA and Department of Energy, and Natural Resources Canada. We do not add, estimate or edit figures; the sources page lists each dataset and its download date.

Models and generations

The datasets spell model names in many ways. We group them into the model lines as marketed and into generations; generation names and years are checked against the makers' and established references, linked on each generation page.
