What is the Audi Q7?
The Q7 is Audi’s large SUV, with a spacious cabin and seating for up to seven. It sits near the top of Audi’s Q range and is designed to carry passengers and luggage in a raised, roomy format.
Introduced in 2005, the Q7 was Audi’s first SUV. The first generation, 4L, ran from 2005 to 2015; the 4M generation began in 2015. The later generation brought a fresh design and updated technology while keeping the Q7’s large, flexible cabin.
Engines and power
In the EU, the Q7 range spans 3.0-litre to 5.9-litre engines and 150 kW (204 PS) to 373 kW (507 PS). UK figures cover 3.0-litre to 4.2-litre engines, with the same power range. Petrol and diesel models feature in both markets, alongside hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.
US figures list 2.0-litre to 4.2-litre engines, with petrol, hybrid and diesel categories. Canadian figures cover 2.0-litre to 4.2-litre engines and list petrol or diesel.
How economical is the Audi Q7?
The lowest EU figure for petrol, diesel and hybrid versions is 7 L/100 km on the WLTP test. The plug-in hybrid’s lowest official weighted figure is 1.4 L/100 km WLTP; it assumes some driving is electric. In the UK, the lowest figure for petrol, diesel and hybrid versions is 5.7 L/100 km on NEDC, and the plug-in hybrid figure is 1.8 L/100 km NEDC.
The lowest US figure is 10.7 L/100 km on the EPA test, or 22 MPG combined. Canada’s lowest figure is also 10.7 L/100 km, on the NRCan 5-cycle test. Test procedures differ: Europe uses WLTP or NEDC, the US uses EPA testing and Canada uses the 5-cycle test.
Where was the Audi Q7 sold?
Official figures cover the EU, UK, France, the United States and Canada. EU registration figures span 2010–2025 and total 429,142. The leading listed EU configuration is a 3.0-litre diesel producing 200 kW (272 PS), which appears among the top sellers in 2015, 2016 and 2017. French figures cover 2012–2015, while US and Canadian figures span 2007–2026.
