What is the Audi e-tron?

The Audi e-tron is a fully electric SUV and Audi’s first series production electric SUV. It brought battery power to a brand long associated with quattro all-wheel drive and TDI and TFSI engines. The raised seating and practical SUV shape make it a natural fit for everyday family use.

The original e-tron generation, code GE, ran from 2019 to 2022. Audi later updated it and adopted the Q8 e-tron name, placing the electric SUV alongside the larger models in its Q range.

Engines and power

Every e-tron version listed in the EU, UK, France, US and Canada is electric. Power varies by version and market: EU registration figures span 40 kW (54 PS) to 620 kW (843 PS), UK figures list 390–680 kW (530–925 PS), and Canadian versions range from 300–550 kW (408–748 PS).

Consumption and CO₂

The e-tron has no tailpipe CO₂ emissions while driving. EU registration figures record 199,696 e-trons from 2018 to 2025. The most registered listed version was the 158 kW (215 PS) electric model, with 38,600 registrations in 2020.

Where was it sold?

The e-tron appears in EU registration figures from 2018 to 2025. UK figures cover 2025–2026, US EPA figures 2019–2027, and Canadian NRCan figures 2019–2026. France’s ADEME figures list electric versions for 2026.

Questions and answers

Is the Audi e-tron fully electric?

Yes. The e-tron versions listed for the EU, UK, France, the US and Canada are electric.

What was the first e-tron generation?

The original e-tron generation, code GE, ran from 2019 to 2022.

How much power does an e-tron have?

It depends on the market and version. EU figures span 40–620 kW (54–843 PS), while Canadian versions range from 300–550 kW (408–748 PS).

How many e-trons were registered in the EU?

EU registration figures record 199,696 from 2018 to 2025.

Official figures are measured on standard test procedures and differ between markets. Your consumption depends on how, where and in what conditions you drive.
