OBD-II fault code

P2813: Pressure Control Solenoid G Control Circuit Range/Performance

What it means

The current through pressure control solenoid G does not match the commanded value within tolerance. Coil resistance drift or high-resistance contact.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

The transmission control module adjusts current to pressure control solenoid G to regulate hydraulic pressure in its circuit. This code sets when the current or resulting response falls outside the expected operating range, even though the fault is not identified specifically as an open circuit or a low-voltage condition.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Solenoid coil or wiring fault
  2. Poor connection at the solenoid connector
  3. Hydraulic or valve-body fault affecting solenoid response

Symptoms

  • Check-engine or transmission warning light
  • Harsh or delayed shifts
  • Transmission may slip or hesitate
  • Transmission may enter limp mode

How to diagnose it

  1. Use freeze-frame data to note solenoid G’s commanded duty cycle, operating temperature, gear, and conditions when the fault set.
  2. Compare live command and available current or pressure-response data to identify when solenoid G’s response diverges from the expected range.
  3. Inspect solenoid G’s connector and harness for high-resistance contacts, corrosion, loose terminals, or damaged wiring.
  4. Measure solenoid G coil resistance and check the control wiring for unwanted resistance using the manufacturer's procedure.
  5. If electrical readings meet the manufacturer's specification, investigate the valve body and hydraulic circuit for a response problem affecting solenoid G.

Common fixes

  • Clean and secure high-resistance connections at solenoid G.
  • Repair damaged wiring or corroded terminals in its control circuit.
  • Replace solenoid G if its coil readings fall outside the manufacturer's specification.
  • Repair valve-body or hydraulic faults if electrical tests pass but pressure response remains out of range.

Can I keep driving?

Limit driving and avoid heavy loads if shifts are harsh, delayed, or slipping, since poor pressure control can worsen transmission wear. If the transmission enters limp mode or loses drive, stop safely and arrange diagnosis.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
