What it means
The current through pressure control solenoid D does not match the commanded value within tolerance. Coil resistance drift or high-resistance contact.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Pressure control solenoid D varies transmission hydraulic pressure in response to the TCM's command. The module monitors whether the circuit's electrical response and resulting control fall within an expected range. P2719 sets when the response is outside that range, which can result from coil drift or resistance at a connector even if the circuit is not completely open.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Coil resistance changed by thermal stress
- High-resistance contact in solenoid connector
- Sensor element aged beyond calibration window
Symptoms
- Check-engine or transmission warning light may be on
- Harsh, delayed, or slipping shifts
- Transmission may enter a reduced-function mode
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and compare solenoid D command with available current, pressure, or shift data in the scan tool.
- Inspect solenoid D wiring and connector terminals for corrosion, looseness, fluid, or other sources of added resistance.
- Measure solenoid D coil resistance and compare it with the manufacturer's specification, including at the temperature when the fault occurs.
- Check circuit voltage drop or current response using the manufacturer's procedure while solenoid D is commanded.
- If the circuit response is correct, investigate valve body wear or pressure response before replacing the TCM.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure a high-resistance solenoid D connector.
- Repair damaged or corroded wiring in the solenoid D circuit.
- Replace solenoid D if its coil has drifted outside the manufacturer's specification.
- Repair valve body wear if electrical operation is correct but pressure control remains out of range.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid heavy loads and long trips if shifts are harsh or slipping, because continued poor pressure control can damage internal transmission parts. If the transmission enters reduced-function mode or loses drive, stop safely and arrange service.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
