What is the Ford Edge?

The Edge is a mid-size crossover SUV in Ford’s larger family vehicle range. Ford introduced it in North America before bringing it to Europe, where it joined the brand’s SUV lineup alongside smaller crossovers.

The Edge has two generations. The first appeared in North America and also reached Europe; the second-generation model was sold in the US, Canada, Europe and the UK.

What are the Ford Edge generations?

The first generation ran from 2007 to 2014, establishing the Edge as a mid-size crossover in North America. The second generation followed from 2015 to 2024 and expanded the model’s reach into European and UK markets. EU registration figures cover 2016 to 2021, as do UK figures. North American figures span 2007 to 2024.

Engines and power

European and UK versions used 2.0-litre engines. EU figures span 110 kW (150 PS) to 232 kW (315 PS), while UK figures range from 110 kW (150 PS) to 177 kW (241 PS); UK versions in these listings are diesel. Among EU registrations, 2.0-litre diesel versions were prominent, including a 155 kW (211 PS) configuration.

US and Canadian versions covered 2.0- to 3.7-litre petrol engines. The Edge’s engine and fuel choices varied by market.

How economical is the Ford Edge?

The lowest listed EU figure is 7.4 L/100 km on WLTP. The UK’s lowest listed figure is 5.8 L/100 km on NEDC. In the US, the lowest listed result is 9.4 L/100 km under EPA ratings, with a best combined figure of 25 MPG; Canada’s lowest is 9.6 L/100 km on the NRCan 5-cycle test. WLTP and NEDC are European procedures; EPA and Canada’s 5-cycle use their own methods, so results across markets are not directly comparable.
