What is the Mazda CX-7?
The CX-7 was a five-door crossover SUV with sporty styling and room for a family. It grew from Mazda’s MX-Crossport concept, shown in 2005, and joined the company’s expanding crossover range.
Mazda’s design gave the CX-7 a flowing profile and a more athletic look than a traditional box-shaped utility vehicle.
CX-7 generations
Mazda sold one CX-7 generation, code ER, from 2007 to 2012. The model received a mid-cycle update. Mazda later introduced the CX-5 as the compact model in its crossover range.
Engines and power
Engine choices varied by country. EU figures cover 2.2- and 2.3-litre engines, with power from 120 kW (163 PS) to 191 kW (260 PS). The UK range included 2.2-litre diesel and 2.3-litre petrol engines. In France, a 2.2-litre diesel is listed at 127 kW (173 PS).
US and Canadian listings show petrol engines from 2.3 to 2.5 litres.
Fuel consumption and markets
The lowest listed UK and French figure is 7.5 L/100 km on NEDC. In the US, the lowest listed figure is 10.2 L/100 km, with a best combined rating of 23 MPG under EPA testing. Canada’s lowest listed figure is 10.4 L/100 km on the NRCan 5-cycle test. WLTP and NEDC in Europe, EPA testing in the US, and Canada’s 5-cycle procedure use different methods, so results are not directly equivalent.
EU registration figures span 2010–2017; UK figures cover 2008–2012, US figures 2007–2012, and Canadian figures 2007–2011. The 2.2-litre diesel featured prominently in EU registrations.
