What is the BMW 4 Series?
The BMW 4 Series is a range of coupés, convertibles and four-door Gran Coupés. BMW introduced the name in 2013, giving these lower-roof body styles a distinct place in its line-up. The Gran Coupé adds rear doors and a tailgate, while the convertible offers open-top motoring.
The first generation ran from 2013 to 2020, followed by the second generation from 2021 to today. Across Europe, the UK, France, the United States and Canada, the 4 Series has been offered with petrol and diesel engines, as well as hybrid versions in some markets.
Generations and body styles
The first generation comprises the F32 coupé, F33 convertible and F36 Gran Coupé. The second comprises the G22 coupé, G23 convertible and G26 Gran Coupé. These three body styles give the range distinct layouts, from two-door and open-top cars to a four-door model with a tailgate.
Engines and power
EU engines range from 1.5 L to 3.0 L, with power from 100 kW (136 PS) to 280 kW (381 PS). The listed fuels include petrol, diesel and hybrid, alongside other categories.
