What is the Volvo C70?
The C70 was Volvo’s coupe and convertible, offering a more personal shape alongside the company’s practical family cars. The first C70 was introduced as a coupe, followed by a soft-top convertible. The second-generation C70 was a convertible with a three-piece retractable hardtop that could transform it from a closed coupe-like car to an open-top car.
Generations, engines and power
The C70’s first generation used the P80 platform, while the second used the P1 platform. EU and French figures list the first generation for 2010; the second-generation figures extend through 2013. In Europe and the UK, the model appears with petrol and diesel engines. US and Canadian figures cover petrol versions.
EU figures list engine sizes from 2.0 to 2.5 litres and power from 100 kW (136 PS) to 169 kW (230 PS). UK figures list 1.8 to 2.5-litre engines and power from 125 kW (170 PS) to 127 kW (172 PS). US and Canadian figures list 2.3 to 2.5-litre petrol engines.
How economical is the Volvo C70?
The lowest listed consumption in the UK and France is 5.9 L/100 km on the NEDC test. The lowest US figure is 10.2 L/100 km under EPA testing, with a best combined rating of 23 MPG. Canada’s lowest listed figure is 10.6 L/100 km on the 5-cycle test. These procedures differ, so the market figures are not directly comparable.
EU registration figures record 25,123 C70s from 2010 to 2015. The most registered named configuration was the 2.0-litre diesel rated at 110 kW (150 PS), with 5,518 registrations in 2011.
Where was the C70 sold?
The C70 appears in figures for the EU, UK, France, the US and Canada. EU and French figures include the first generation; second-generation figures appear across all five markets.

Official figures are measured on standard test procedures and differ between markets. Your consumption depends on how, where and in what conditions you drive.
