What is the Morgan Aero 8?
The Aero 8 is a two-seat Morgan sports car that introduced a more modern design and all-aluminium construction to the marque. Launched as Morgan’s flagship in 2000, it was the first all-aluminium coachbuilt Morgan, with an aluminium chassis and hand-formed aluminium bodywork. Its BMW engine began a long technical partnership between the two companies.
The Aero 8 developed through several versions while retaining its distinctive shape and V8 character. The generations represented here are Series 4, listed for 2010, and Series 5, spanning 2016–2018.
Engines and power
The Aero 8 used petrol V8 engines. EU figures list a 4.8-litre engine producing 270 kW (367 PS), while UK VCA figures span 4.4- to 4.8-litre engines. The 4.8-litre BMW V8 also powered the later Plus 8.
How economical is the Morgan Aero 8?
The lowest listed UK consumption is 10.8 L/100 km on the NEDC test. NEDC is an older European test procedure, so its results are not directly comparable with figures measured on the newer WLTP test. EU registration figures span 2010–2018 and total 264 registrations.
Where was the Aero 8 sold?
The Aero 8 appears in figures for the European Union and the United Kingdom. EU registration figures span 2010–2018, and UK VCA figures span 2003–2018.
