What is the Donkervoort GTO?
The GTO is a two-seat Dutch sports car designed around a close connection between driver and road. Its D8 GTO generation brought a larger body, extensive carbon-fibre construction and an Audi five-cylinder turbo engine. Donkervoort unveiled the first prototype in 2011, beginning a new chapter for the company’s lightweight sports cars.
D8 GTO generations and engines
The D8 GTO generation ran from 2013 to 2022. It was a substantial redesign of the earlier D8, sharing few parts with its predecessors and adopting a wider, longer body. Later editions, including the JD70, developed the GTO idea while keeping its two-seat sports-car layout.
In EU registration figures, the GTO is listed with a 2.5-litre petrol engine producing 265 kW (360 PS). Donkervoort’s history describes the D8 GTO as a milestone in the company’s development.
Fuel consumption and CO₂
EU registration figures cover petrol GTOs registered from 2014 to 2022. No official fuel-consumption or CO₂ value is available to quote here. European emissions figures may use the WLTP or older NEDC test procedure, which can produce different results.
Where was the GTO sold?
The GTO recorded 175 registrations in European Economic Area figures from 2014 to 2022. European Community Small Series Type Approval allowed Donkervoort to sell the D8 GTO across Europe and in other regions. Founded in the Netherlands by Joop Donkervoort, the company has built specialised sports cars since 1978.
