What is the Mercedes-Benz CL?
The CL is a large, two-door luxury coupé from the upper end of the Mercedes-Benz range. Its long roof and spacious cabin gave the flagship model a coupé shape. The line is closely related to the S-Class.
The C215 generation introduced Active Body Control, Mercedes-Benz’s active suspension system. The later C216 continued the CL’s role as a flagship coupé.
CL generations
The generations listed are C140, from 1998 to 1999; C215, from 1999 to 2006; and C216, from 2006 to 2014. The CL carried Mercedes-Benz’s large luxury coupé tradition through these generations.
