What is the Jaguar XF?
The XF is a Jaguar executive saloon, also offered as a Sportbrake estate. It sits between the XE and the larger XJ in the brand’s saloon range, combining a four-door layout with a design that marked a change in direction for Jaguar when it arrived.
XF generations
The first-generation XF (X250) ran from 2008 to 2015, replacing the S-Type with a more modern design. The second-generation XF (X260) followed for 2016 and continued through 2024. It brought a new body and updated technology, and was also offered as a Sportbrake estate.
Engines and power
The XF’s engines range from 2.0 L to 5.0 L. In EU figures, the line-up includes petrol, diesel and hybrid versions, with power from 120 kW (163 PS) to 405 kW (551 PS). The UK range spans the same engine sizes, with power up to 250 kW (340 PS).
How economical is the Jaguar XF?
The lowest listed EU consumption is 5.3 L/100 km on the WLTP test. The UK figure is 4 L/100 km and France’s is 4.9 L/100 km, both on NEDC. In the USA, the EPA figure is 6.7 L/100 km, or 35 MPG combined; Canada’s NRCan 5-cycle figure is 6.9 L/100 km. Test procedures differ: Europe uses WLTP or NEDC, the USA uses EPA, and Canada uses the 5-cycle test.
Where was the XF sold?
Official figures list the XF in the EU, UK, France, the USA and Canada. EU registrations span 2010–2024 and total 307,864. Among the highest-registration EU configurations were 3.0 L diesel versions in 2010 and 2.2 L diesel versions rated at 147 kW (200 PS) in 2013 and 2014.
