What is the Aston Martin Rapide?

The Rapide is a four-door sports saloon with the shape and sporting character of a grand tourer. It brought room for four passengers to a marque better known for two-door sports cars, with a sleek roofline and individual rear seats. Aston Martin described it as its first production four-door sports car, extending the brand’s performance and hand-finished luxury into a more practical body style.

Rapide generation

The Rapide was sold as one generation from 2010 to 2020. The Rapide S and Rapide AMR developed the same four-door idea, with a more sporting character. The car’s place in the range was distinctive: it combined passenger comfort with the character of an Aston Martin GT.

Engines, power and fuel consumption

The Rapide versions listed across these markets use petrol engines. EU, UK and French figures show a 5.9-litre engine. EU power ranges from 350 kW (476 PS) to 444 kW (604 PS); France lists 350 kW (476 PS) to 410 kW (557 PS), while UK listings show 444 kW (604 PS). US and Canadian listings include engines from 5.9 to 6.0 litres.

The lowest listed fuel consumption is 12.9 L/100 km on the UK NEDC test and 14.3 L/100 km on France’s NEDC test. The US EPA figure is 13.8 L/100 km, or 17 MPG combined; Canada’s 5-cycle figure is 14.1 L/100 km. NEDC is an older European test procedure; EPA and Canada’s 5-cycle test differ, so results across markets are not directly comparable.
