What is Acura?

Acura is Honda’s premium car brand, launched in the United States in 1986 with the Integra and Legend. It grew from a North American launch into a range of cars and SUVs sold in the United States and Canada. Performance and technology have been central to its identity, from the road-going NSX sports car to its family-focused SUVs.

The range includes compact cars, sedans, SUVs and a sports car. The Integra has combined a sporty character with everyday practicality, while the NSX brought Acura into the supercar category.

Acura’s main model lines

The Integra is the longest-running name in the range, spanning 1986–2026 with a gap before its return. It sits at the compact, sporty end of the lineup. Acura’s sedans have included the Legend, TL, TSX, RL and RLX, as well as the EL, CSX, ILX and RSX.

SUVs became a major part of the range with the MDX, a three-row model introduced in 2001, followed by the smaller RDX in 2007. The SLX and ZDX brought other shapes to the lineup. The ADX joined the range in 2025, while the NSX remains its distinctive two-seat sports car.

How the range developed

Acura began with a compact sporting car and an upmarket sedan. The NSX extended that performance identity into a mid-engined sports car. The MDX later brought three-row family seating to the SUV range, and the RDX added a smaller SUV. Acura went on to offer a variety of sedan and crossover models.

The lineup spans the brand’s 1986 beginnings through 2026. The Integra, MDX and RDX continue across the years shown, while the NSX ran through 2022. Models such as the TLX and ILX mark distinct chapters in Acura’s sedan history.

Electrification and official figures

The ZDX name has been used for two distinct SUVs, including an all-electric model. It marked Acura’s entry into battery-electric vehicles alongside a lineup with a long history of petrol models.

Acura’s official fuel economy figures are published for the United States under EPA testing and for Canada under NRCan’s five-cycle procedure. These results use different methods from European WLTP and older NEDC tests, so figures from different markets are not directly equivalent.
