What is the Acura TLX?

The TLX is Acura’s midsize premium sedan, with a conventional four-door shape and room for passengers. It joined the lineup in 2015 as a midsize sedan, sitting between Acura’s smaller and larger sedans.

Acura is Honda’s premium brand. The TLX brought that part of the range a sedan with a driver-focused character and a choice of petrol engines.

TLX generations

The first generation ran from 2015 to 2020. The second followed from 2021 to 2025 with a new design and updated engineering. The TLX is listed in the United States and Canada from 2015 through 2025.

Engines, power and fuel consumption

The US and Canadian lineups span petrol engines from 2.0 L to 3.5 L. Both markets list petrol versions.

The lowest listed US consumption is 8.4 L/100 km, and the best combined EPA rating is 28 MPG. Canada’s lowest listed figure is 8.3 L/100 km on the NRCan 5-cycle test. The procedures differ, so the results are best understood in their market context. European fuel economy and CO₂ figures use WLTP or, for some older cars, NEDC; US figures use EPA testing and Canadian figures use the 5-cycle procedure.
