What is the Acura ZDX?
The ZDX name belongs to two very different Acura crossovers. The original was a four-door sports coupe, with a sloping roof and sculpted shape. Acura described its design as blending coupe, sedan and utility-car qualities. The name returned on an all-electric crossover, giving the ZDX a new role in Acura’s range.
Generations and design
The first generation ran from 2010 to 2013. Its coupe-like profile featured a panoramic glass roof and concealed rear door handles. The second generation has been built since 2024 as an all-electric crossover, a marked shift from the original’s petrol power and sports-coupe styling.
Engines and power
The original ZDX used a 3.7-litre petrol engine. The second-generation model is electric. Canadian figures list its power as 375 kW (510 PS).
Fuel consumption and where it was sold
US EPA figures for the ZDX span 2010–2026 and give a best combined rating of 19 mpg, with a lowest listed consumption of 12.4 L/100 km. Canada’s NRCan figures span 2011–2024, with a lowest listed consumption of 12.5 L/100 km under the 5-cycle test. The ZDX was sold in the United States and Canada. EPA and Canadian 5-cycle procedures differ, so their results are best read within their own markets. The litres-per-100-kilometre figures describe the petrol-powered ZDX; the electric generation uses a different kind of energy-consumption measure.
