OBD-II fault code

P2707: Shift Solenoid F Performance/Stuck Off

What it means

Shift solenoid F is commanded on but does not produce the expected hydraulic response. Spool stuck closed or hydraulic apply circuit blocked.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

Shift solenoid F controls a fluid path used for transmission gear changes. This performance or stuck-off code means the controller commanded solenoid F on but did not detect the expected hydraulic or gear response, consistent with a valve that is not opening or a blocked apply passage.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Solenoid spool stuck in closed position
  2. Apply circuit blocked by debris in valve body
  3. Carbon or debris buildup preventing free movement

Symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame and transmission data to identify the shift where commanded solenoid F failed to produce the expected response.
  2. Check fluid level and condition using the manufacturer's procedure, and inspect for signs of contamination that could obstruct the solenoid or passage.
  3. Inspect the solenoid F wiring and connector for damage or poor contact that could prevent the commanded activation.
  4. Use a scan tool to compare the solenoid F command with transmission response during the affected shift.
  5. If wiring and command are sound, test solenoid F operation and inspect the valve-body passage for sticking or debris.

Common fixes

  • Correct fluid level or service fluid if it is contaminated or outside the manufacturer's requirements.
  • Repair a poor connection or damaged wire in the solenoid F circuit.
  • Clean or replace solenoid F if it is sticking and testing supports that diagnosis.
  • Remove debris or repair a blocked solenoid F passage in the valve body.

Can I keep driving?

Avoid towing, heavy loads, and unnecessary driving because the transmission may miss shifts or slip when solenoid F cannot apply its fluid path. Stop safely and arrange recovery if the vehicle loses drive or shifts erratically.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
