What is the Volkswagen CC?

The Volkswagen CC is a four-door saloon with a low roof and sweeping coupé-like lines. It began as the Passat CC, Volkswagen’s first four-door coupé, and became a standalone CC when the updated model arrived in 2012. It brought a more distinctive shape to Volkswagen’s mid-size range while retaining four doors and passenger space.

Volkswagen presented the CC as a Gran Turismo, with a flowing roofline and a design intended for comfortable everyday driving and longer journeys.

Generations and engines

The CC’s first generation ran from 2010 to 2017. It followed the Passat CC, launched in 2008, and the Arteon succeeded it in 2017. When it became a standalone model in 2012, the CC kept the four-door coupé concept with refreshed styling.

EU figures list engines from 1.4 to 3.6 litres and power from 100 kW (136 PS) to 220 kW (299 PS). Fuels include petrol, diesel, flex-fuel E85 and other types. UK figures span 1.4- to 3.6-litre engines, with power from 103 kW (140 PS) to 221 kW (300 PS). US and Canadian figures cover petrol engines from 2.0 to 3.6 litres.

How economical is the Volkswagen CC?

The lowest listed figure is 4.5 L/100 km under NEDC in both the UK and France. In the United States, the lowest EPA figure is 9.4 L/100 km, or 25 MPG combined. Canada’s lowest listed figure is 9.3 L/100 km under NRCan’s 5-cycle test.

NEDC was the European procedure used for these UK and French figures. EPA testing in the USA and Canada’s 5-cycle procedure use different methods, so their results are not directly comparable with NEDC figures.

Where was the CC sold?

Official figures cover the European Union, the United Kingdom, France, the United States and Canada. EU registration years are 2010–2017; UK and North American figures begin in 2009, reflecting sales of the Passat CC before it became a separate CC model.
