What is the Mitsubishi Lancer?

The Lancer is Mitsubishi’s compact passenger car, offered in sedan and hatchback forms in different markets. Its roots go back to 1973, and the Lancer later became the basis for the Lancer Evolution performance line associated with Mitsubishi’s rally programme.

The sixth generation, with CK and CM codes, ran from 2000 to 2003 in the markets represented here. The seventh generation, code CS, followed from 2000 to 2007, and the eighth generation, codes CY and CX, ran from 2007 to 2017. The overlapping dates reflect differences in generation timing between markets. Later generations were offered in a wider range of markets and body styles.

Engines and power

EU registration figures from 2010 to 2019 include 1.5- to 2.0-litre engines, with power ranging from 79 kW (107 PS) to 217 kW (295 PS). The fuels include petrol, diesel, LPG, flex fuel E85 and other. UK figures cover 1.5- to 2.0-litre petrol and diesel versions; US versions span 1.6 to 2.4 litres, and Canadian versions 2.0 to 2.4 litres.

The highest stated power in the EU range is 217 kW (295 PS). France’s listed petrol versions also reach 217 kW (295 PS).

How economical is the Mitsubishi Lancer?

The lowest stated UK figure is 6.3 L/100 km on NEDC. France’s lowest is 10.5 L/100 km on NEDC for its listed petrol versions. In the US, the EPA’s lowest figure is 7.8 L/100 km, or 30 MPG combined; Canada’s lowest is 7.8 L/100 km on the NRCan 5-cycle test. NEDC is a European test procedure, while the EPA and Canadian 5-cycle tests use different methods, so these market figures are not directly comparable.

Where was the Mitsubishi Lancer sold?

EU registration figures cover 2010–2019, with 92,604 registrations. UK figures cover 2000–2010 and French figures 2013–2014. US figures span 2002–2017, while Canadian figures cover 2003–2017. Mitsubishi ended Lancer production in 2017 as it shifted focus toward crossovers and SUVs.

Official figures are measured on standard test procedures and differ between markets. Your consumption depends on how, where and in what conditions you drive.
