What is the MINI Paceman?

The Paceman was MINI’s three-door crossover, with a coupé-like roofline and four individual seats. It brought a lower, more dramatic shape to the brand’s growing range of larger MINI models, while its folding rear seats added space for luggage.

The first-generation Paceman, known as R61, ran from 2013 to 2016. Its rounded lights and upright grille carried familiar MINI design cues into a more muscular body. Selected versions offered MINI ALL4 all-wheel drive.

Engines and power

In the European Union, the Paceman came with 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines. Power ranged from 82 kW (111 PS) to 140 kW (190 PS), including Cooper S and John Cooper Works versions.

The line-up varied by market. UK figures cover petrol and diesel engines from 1.6 to 2.0 litres, while US and Canadian figures cover 1.6-litre petrol models.

How economical is the MINI Paceman?

The lowest listed UK VCA consumption is 4.2 L/100 km on the NEDC test. The lowest US EPA figure is 7.8 L/100 km, with a best combined rating of 30 MPG. Canada’s lowest listed figure is 7.5 L/100 km on the NRCan 5-cycle test.

These figures use different test procedures, so compare them within their own markets. The European and UK figures use NEDC, the US uses EPA testing, and Canada uses the 5-cycle procedure.

Where was the MINI Paceman sold?

The Paceman appears in official figures for the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. EU registration figures span 2013–2017; the national figures cover 2013–2018 in the UK, 2013–2016 in the US and 2014–2016 in Canada. In EU registrations, the 1.6-litre diesel rated at 82 kW (111 PS) led in 2013–2014. Two 1.6-litre petrol versions rated at 90 kW (122 PS) also featured among the leading entries.
