What is the Audi TT?

The Audi TT is a compact sports car offered as a coupé and a roadster. Its rounded, sharply defined shape made it one of the most distinctive cars in Audi’s range, while its cabin puts the driver at the centre. The TT concept appeared in 1995, and the production car carried its clean, geometric design into the showroom.

Audi TT generations

The first generation (1999–2006, 8N) brought the concept’s rounded forms close to production and established the TT as a design-led sports car. The second generation (2007–2014, 8J) developed the design and brought versions including the TT RS. The third generation (2015–2023, 8S) introduced the Audi virtual cockpit, a digital instrument display that put key information in front of the driver.

Engines, power and official economy

EU figures cover engines from 1.8 to 2.5 litres and power from 118 kW (160 PS) to 294 kW (400 PS). The UK and US figures also include engines up to 3.2 litres. Petrol versions were joined by diesel versions in some markets. Among the most registered EU configurations were 2.0-litre petrol versions rated at 169 kW (230 PS) and 180 kW (245 PS).

The lowest listed consumption is 6.7 L/100 km in the EU on WLTP, 4.5 L/100 km in the UK on NEDC, and 5.3 L/100 km in France on NEDC. The US EPA figure is 9 L/100 km, with a best combined rating of 26 MPG; Canada’s NRCan 5-cycle figure is also 9 L/100 km. European WLTP and NEDC, US EPA and Canadian 5-cycle procedures differ, so figures are best understood within their own market.

Where was the Audi TT sold?

Official figures cover the EU, UK, France, the United States and Canada. EU registrations span 2010–2025 and total 317,212 cars. UK and US figures begin in 2000, while Canadian figures begin in 1999.
