What is the Lexus RC?
The Lexus RC is a two-door coupe with a compact cabin and a bold, low-slung shape. It stands apart from Lexus sedans and SUVs as a coupe in its own right, rather than a two-door version of a sedan. Lexus revealed it in 2013 and showed it in Europe the following year. The spindle grille and sharply drawn bodywork gave the RC a distinctive look within the brand’s range.
Generations, engines and power
The RC’s first generation, code XC10, spans 2015–2025. Across the EU, UK, US and Canada, engines range from 2.0 to 5.0 litres. The EU range includes petrol and hybrid versions, with outputs from 133 kW (181 PS) to 351 kW (477 PS). UK versions range from 164 kW (223 PS) to 341 kW (464 PS).
How economical is the Lexus RC?
The lowest official EU consumption figure is 6.1 L/100 km on the WLTP test. The UK’s lowest listed figure is 4.9 L/100 km under NEDC, while France’s listed petrol version is rated at 10.8 L/100 km under NEDC. In the USA, the lowest figure is 9 L/100 km under EPA testing, with a best combined rating of 26 MPG. Canada’s lowest is also 9 L/100 km, measured on the NRCan five-cycle test. These procedures differ, so the figures are best read within their own markets.
Where was the Lexus RC sold?
Official EU registration figures record 13,108 RCs from 2014 to 2024. UK VCA figures cover 2015–2023, France’s ADEME listing covers 2015, and US EPA and Canadian NRCan figures cover 2015–2025. The RC was also offered in Japan, where Lexus first unveiled the coupe.
