What it means
Brake pressure sensor F signal voltage above expected range. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.
At a glance
- Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Brake pressure sensor F reports hydraulic pressure to the brake control module for ABS and stability functions. This code sets when its signal rises above the expected range, which can happen if the signal circuit is connected to battery voltage.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to battery
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Supply wire pinched against B+ source
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
How to diagnose it
- Scan the brake module for related codes and review freeze-frame data and live sensor F readings to determine whether the high signal is steady or intermittent.
- Inspect sensor F's connector and nearby harness for moisture, corrosion, pin damage, or insulation touching a powered wire.
- Gently move the harness while monitoring the live reading to check whether movement changes sensor F's signal.
- Use vehicle wiring information to test the signal circuit for a short to battery voltage and check the sensor supply and ground.
- If the circuit checks pass, test sensor F and the brake module input according to the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure sensor F's connector and repair damaged or corroded terminals.
- Repair chafed wiring where the signal wire contacts a powered circuit.
- Correct a pinched supply wire or harness routing that brings it against a battery-voltage source.
- Replace sensor F if it fails the manufacturer's test.
Can I keep driving?
ABS or stability control may be unavailable, and brake assist may be reduced. Drive only as needed to reach a safe place for inspection, avoid high speeds and hard braking, and stop if normal braking is affected.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
