OBD-II fault code

C0572: Brake Pressure Sensor C Circuit High

What it means

The brake pressure sensor C signal is above the expected range. The code alone does not identify whether the cause is the sensor or its circuit.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Brake pressure sensor C reports hydraulic pressure to the brake control module for functions such as ABS and stability control. C0572 sets when sensor C’s signal is higher than the expected range; the code by itself does not establish whether the sensor or its circuit caused it.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Signal wire shorted to battery
  2. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
  3. Supply wire pinched against B+ source

Symptoms

  • Brake or ABS warning light
  • Brake pressure or stability-control functions may be limited

How to diagnose it

  1. Read brake-module freeze-frame and live data for pressure sensor C to confirm the high reading and when it occurs.
  2. Inspect sensor C’s connector and harness for corrosion, damaged pins, pinching, or contact with a battery-positive feed.
  3. Check the sensor C signal wire for a short to battery voltage using the manufacturer’s safe circuit-testing procedure.
  4. Measure the signal at sensor C and compare it with the manufacturer’s specification.
  5. If the wiring and connections are sound, test pressure sensor C’s response and mounting for damage or looseness.

Common fixes

  • Repair a sensor C signal wire shorted to battery voltage.
  • Repair corroded or damaged terminals at the pressure sensor C connector.
  • Repair a pinched harness or wire contacting a B+ source.
  • Replace pressure sensor C if its signal remains high with a sound circuit.

Can I keep driving?

The brake or ABS warning may indicate that pressure-based braking or stability-control functions are limited. Avoid hard braking and slippery roads, and stop if braking feels abnormal; arrange prompt diagnosis.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
