OBD-II fault code

C064E: Brake Pressure Sensor N Circuit High

What it means

Brake pressure sensor N signal voltage above expected range. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Brake pressure sensor N reports hydraulic pressure to the brake control module for ABS and stability control. This code sets when the sensor N signal rises above the module’s expected electrical range, which can happen if the signal is shorted to battery voltage.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Signal wire shorted to battery
  2. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
  3. Supply wire pinched against B+ source

Symptoms

  • ABS warning light on
  • ESC/stability control deactivated
  • Possible reduced brake assist
  • Speedometer may behave erratically

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and observe live sensor N pressure to confirm that its signal is unusually high or fixed high.
  2. Inspect sensor N’s connector and harness for corrosion, water entry, pin damage, or wiring pinched against a power source.
  3. Move the sensor N harness gently while monitoring live data to check whether the high reading changes with harness position.
  4. Use the wiring diagram to test the sensor N signal circuit for a short to battery and check supply and ground against the manufacturer's specification.
  5. If the circuit is not shorted, test sensor N and the control-module input using the manufacturer's procedure.

Common fixes

  • Repair a sensor N signal wire shorted to battery voltage.
  • Clean and secure corroded or loose sensor N connector terminals.
  • Replace a damaged connector or repair wiring pinched against a power source.
  • Replace sensor N if the circuit tests correctly but its output remains high.

Can I keep driving?

ABS and stability control may be disabled, and brake assist may be reduced, so leave extra stopping distance and avoid hard braking. Stop driving if braking response changes.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
