What it means
Brake pressure sensor F signal voltage below expected range. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.
At a glance
- Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Brake pressure sensor F reports hydraulic pressure to the brake control module, which uses the reading for ABS and stability control. This code sets when sensor F's signal is lower than the module's expected range, often because the signal is being pulled toward ground.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Harness chafing through insulation
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
How to diagnose it
- Scan the brake module for related codes and review freeze-frame data and live sensor F readings to see whether the low signal is constant or intermittent.
- With the vehicle safely parked, inspect sensor F's connector for moisture, corrosion, damaged seals, and pins pushed back from their normal position.
- Trace sensor F's harness for rubbed-through insulation or contact with metal, then gently move the harness while watching the live reading for a change.
- Using the wiring information for the vehicle, check sensor F's signal wire for a short to ground and inspect its power and ground connections.
- If wiring and connector checks pass, test sensor F and the brake module input according to the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure sensor F's connector, correcting any backed-out pins.
- Repair chafed signal-wire insulation or replace the damaged wire section.
- Repair a signal wire shorted to ground and secure the harness away from rubbing points.
- Replace sensor F if it fails the manufacturer's test.
Can I keep driving?
With the ABS warning on, ABS or stability control may be unavailable and brake assist may be reduced. Avoid high speeds and hard braking; if the brake pedal feels abnormal or braking is reduced, stop safely and arrange prompt inspection.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
