What it means
The brake control module monitors the electrical circuit for brake pressure sensor F. It sets this code when it detects an open circuit and cannot receive the sensor signal.
At a glance
- Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Brake pressure sensor F sends a pressure signal through an electrical circuit to the brake control module. This code sets when the module detects an open in that circuit and cannot receive sensor F's signal.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Wire broken
- Pin pushed back out of connector body
- Cracked solder joint inside the module or sensor
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
How to diagnose it
- Scan the brake module for related codes and check freeze-frame data and live sensor F readings to confirm the signal is absent or fixed at a default value.
- Inspect sensor F's connector for a loose fit, corrosion, moisture, damaged terminals, or a pin pushed back into the connector body.
- Follow sensor F's harness and look for a broken or stretched wire, then gently move the harness while watching the live reading for momentary recovery.
- With the vehicle wiring information, check continuity through sensor F's signal, supply, and ground circuits, isolating the sensor and module as specified by the manufacturer.
- If the external wiring is intact, test sensor F and the brake module for an internal connection fault using the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Reconnect and secure sensor F's connector, restoring any backed-out pin.
- Repair or replace the broken section of sensor F wiring.
- Repair corroded or damaged terminals and restore the connector seal.
- Replace sensor F or repair the brake module only if the manufacturer's tests identify an internal fault.
Can I keep driving?
The ABS and stability systems may be disabled, with possible reduced brake assist. Avoid high speeds and hard braking; stop and seek prompt inspection if the pedal feels unusual or braking performance changes.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
