What is the Toyota Auris?
The Auris is Toyota’s compact family hatchback, designed to make good use of interior space in a manageable footprint. It occupied a place in Toyota’s European range between the smaller Yaris and larger family cars. The five-door hatchback was central to the line-up, and an estate version was also offered.
Toyota introduced the Auris in Europe as a distinct name for its compact car. After two generations, the Auris name gave way to Corolla in Europe. Hybrid power became part of its identity alongside petrol and diesel engines.
Auris generations
The first generation (2007–2012) established the Auris as a family hatchback. The second generation (2013–2018) brought updated styling and technology while retaining the focus on interior space and usability.
The Auris was sold in the EU, UK and France. Its hybrid version offered an alternative to the petrol and diesel models while keeping the practical hatchback format.
Engines and power
Across EU registrations, Auris engines range from 1.2 L to 2.2 L, with power from 66 kW (90 PS) to 130 kW (177 PS). UK listings cover the same engine-size range, while French listings span 66 kW (90 PS) to 97 kW (132 PS). Petrol, diesel and hybrid versions were available, with other types also appearing in EU registrations.
The lowest listed consumption in the UK is 3.4 L/100 km on NEDC. France’s lowest listed figure is 3.6 L/100 km, also on NEDC. EU registration figures cover the Auris from 2010 to 2020 and list 1,871,600 registrations.
Where was the Auris sold?
