Who is McLaren?

McLaren is a British sports-car maker based in Woking, Surrey, with roots in motor racing. Its road cars are known for bringing racing experience into lightweight, focused performance cars, including through the use of carbon-fibre construction. The MP4-12C began the modern model range in 2011, carrying that engineering approach from the circuit to the road.

McLaren model lines

The range centres on two-seat sports cars and supercars, from the 540C and 570S through the 720S to today’s 750S. The GT adds a more touring-minded shape to the line-up. Special editions such as the 600LT, 675LT, Senna and Elva sit at the sharper or more exclusive end of the family, while the P1 and Speedtail represent McLaren’s hybrid hypercar line.

In EU registration figures, the 720S was the most registered McLaren among the listed models, with 2,471 registrations from 2017 to 2024. The 570S followed with 2,166 from 2015 to 2020, then the MP4-12C with 1,300 from 2011 to 2016. These figures give a sense of how the range moved from its first modern road car into the broader Sports Series and later supercars.

How has the range developed?

The MP4-12C opened the modern era, followed by a steady expansion: the 650S and 625C arrived in 2014, and the 570S family broadened the range from 2015. The 720S marked the next major supercar generation in 2017; the 750S followed in 2023. The GT, introduced in 2019, has the longest listed run, through 2026.

Electrification appears in the P1 and Speedtail, both listed for 2014–2016 and 2020 respectively, and in the Artura, listed from 2023 to 2026. The Artura is McLaren’s high-performance hybrid supercar, combining a petrol engine with electric drive. Across the range, the names and body styles have changed, while the emphasis on lightness and performance remains.

Where are McLaren cars recorded?

McLaren appears in European Union registration figures, UK VCA figures and US EPA ratings. Official consumption and emissions numbers can differ between markets because the test procedures differ: Europe has used NEDC and WLTP, the USA uses EPA ratings, and Canada uses a 5-cycle test. Canadian figures are not listed.
