What is the Chevrolet Traverse?

The Traverse is a large, three-row crossover SUV in Chevrolet’s family vehicle range. Its roomy cabin and flexible seating make it a practical shape for carrying passengers and everyday cargo. It has been part of Chevrolet’s North American SUV lineup since the 2009 model year.

The Traverse has evolved through three generations. The first used GM’s Lambda platform; later generations moved to the C1XX platform. The latest generation began in 2024, with a redesigned exterior and flexible second- and third-row seating.

Generations, engines and power

The first generation ran from 2009 to 2017, the second from 2018 to 2023, and the third began in 2024. The model is associated chiefly with the United States and Canada. European Union registration figures also show petrol Traverses in 2023 and 2024.

The North American listings cover petrol engines from 2.0 to 3.6 litres. In the EU registration figures, the listed 3.6-litre petrol version produces 231 kW (314 PS).

Fuel consumption and CO₂

The lowest listed consumption is 10.2 L/100 km in the United States under the EPA procedure. Canada’s lowest listed figure is 10.5 L/100 km under NRCan’s 5-cycle procedure. The EPA and Canadian test procedures differ, so the results should be read in their respective test contexts.

European Union registration figures list 24 Traverses for 2023–2024: 13 in 2023 and 11 in 2024, all for the 3.6-litre petrol configuration. Consumption and emissions depend on the individual version and test procedure.

Where was the Traverse sold?

The Traverse has been sold chiefly in the United States and Canada. European Union registration figures also include the model in 2023 and 2024.
