What kind of SUV is the Chevrolet Suburban?

The Suburban is Chevrolet’s extended-length full-size SUV, built around the idea of carrying people and their belongings in a spacious cabin. It has a long history: Chevrolet introduced the name in 1935, and the model remains part of the brand’s large-SUV lineup.

The current generation began in 2021. It shares its generation codes with the Tahoe, while its longer body gives it a distinct place in the lineup. The 2021 redesign brought independent rear suspension and a lower cargo floor.

Suburban generations

The generations listed here begin with the eighth: eighth (1992–1999), ninth (2000–2006), tenth (2007–2014), eleventh (2015–2020) and twelfth (2021–today). Their platform codes are GMT400/GMT410, GMT800, GMT900/GMT930, K2XX and T1XX respectively.

The lowest listed consumption is 10.2 L/100 km in US EPA figures and 10.1 L/100 km on Canada’s 5-cycle test. The procedures differ, so the results are not direct comparisons.
