What is the Chevrolet Camaro?

The Chevrolet Camaro is a sporty coupe, also offered as a convertible in some markets. Introduced as Chevrolet’s entry in the pony-car segment, it became one of the best-known nameplates in the brand’s range. Its long bonnet and compact rear cabin give it a distinctive shape.

The generations represented here include the third (1982–1992), fourth (1993–2002), fifth (2010–2015) and sixth (2016–2024). The fifth generation returned after an eight-year hiatus with heritage-inspired styling. The sixth was redesigned on GM’s Alpha platform.

Engines and power

The Camaro’s engine range varied by generation and market. Listed engines run from 2.0 to 6.2 litres. EU power figures span 202 kW (275 PS) to 339 kW (461 PS), while the French figures shown range from 298 kW (405 PS) to 318 kW (432 PS). UK, US and Canadian listings also include engines from 2.0 to 6.2 litres.

In the EU, the most registered configuration was a 6.2-litre petrol engine rated at 333 kW (453 PS), among the leading configurations in three consecutive years.

How economical is the Chevrolet Camaro?

The lowest listed UK figure is 8 L/100 km on NEDC, while France’s lowest is 13.1 L/100 km on the same test. The lowest US EPA figure is 9.4 L/100 km, with a best combined rating of 25 MPG. Canada’s lowest listed value is 9.3 L/100 km on the NRCan 5-cycle test. NEDC in Europe, EPA in the US and 5-cycle in Canada use different procedures, so these figures are not directly comparable.

Official EU registration figures cover 2010–2025 and record 17,255 Camaros. The leading configuration was a 6.2-litre petrol version rated at 333 kW (453 PS).

Where was the Camaro sold?

The Camaro has a long North American history, with US listings spanning 1984–2024 and Canadian listings from 1995–2024. It also appeared in the UK, France and other EU markets, particularly with the fifth and sixth generations. UK listings extend from 2000 to 2018, French figures from 2012 to 2015, and EU registrations from 2010 to 2025.
