OBD-II fault code

P2810: Pressure Control Solenoid G Electrical

What it means

The TCM detects an electrical fault on transmission pressure control solenoid G. Hydraulic pressure cannot be modulated as expected, causing harsh or slipping shifts.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Pressure control solenoid G is an electrically controlled valve that the transmission control module uses to regulate hydraulic pressure. This code sets when the module detects an electrical fault in solenoid G’s circuit, so it cannot depend on the expected electrical control of that pressure circuit.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Internal solenoid fault
  2. Wiring or connector fault

Symptoms

  • Check-engine or transmission warning light
  • Harsh or delayed shifts
  • Transmission may slip or hesitate
  • Transmission may enter limp mode

How to diagnose it

  1. Read freeze-frame data and transmission fault records to see when the solenoid G electrical fault occurred and whether it coincided with a shift symptom.
  2. Check live data for solenoid G command and any available electrical status to see whether the module can control the solenoid.
  3. Inspect solenoid G’s connector and harness for corrosion, loose pins, damaged insulation, or fluid contamination.
  4. Test the wiring and connector continuity and check for shorts using the manufacturer's diagnostic procedure.
  5. Measure solenoid G coil resistance and compare it with the manufacturer's specification to determine whether the solenoid itself is faulty.

Common fixes

  • Secure the connector and repair damaged wiring to solenoid G.
  • Clean corroded connector contacts or replace damaged terminals.
  • Replace solenoid G if its coil fails the manufacturer's electrical checks.
  • Repair the transmission control module circuit only if testing confirms the module is not controlling the circuit correctly.

Can I keep driving?

Avoid towing and hard acceleration while shifts are harsh, delayed, or slipping, since the transmission may not regulate pressure correctly. If it enters limp mode or loses drive, pull over safely and arrange diagnosis.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
