OBD-II fault code

P075E: Shift Solenoid G Intermittent

What it means

An intermittent fault has been detected in the shift solenoid G circuit. The code does not identify the cause or establish that the fault is hydraulic.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

Shift solenoid G is an electrically controlled valve, and the control module uses its circuit to command transmission hydraulic flow. This code sets when the circuit signal is intermittent, which can result from a loose connection, vibration, or a heat-related fault inside the solenoid.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Loose connector at the transmission
  2. Hot-soak intermittent inside the solenoid
  3. Connector with intermittent contact under vibration

Symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

How to diagnose it

  1. Capture freeze-frame data and review transmission codes and live solenoid G status to identify when the signal becomes erratic.
  2. Inspect the transmission connector and solenoid G harness for looseness, corrosion, fluid intrusion, or contact with vibrating parts.
  3. Check circuit continuity and shorts while gently moving the harness, following the wiring diagram and manufacturer's procedure.
  4. Monitor solenoid G circuit status during a controlled connector and harness wiggle test with a scan tool.
  5. If the wiring passes, repeat the solenoid G winding test cold and warm according to the manufacturer's procedure.

Common fixes

  • Reseat and secure the loose transmission connector.
  • Clean corroded terminals and replace damaged connector seals.
  • Repair chafed wiring and secure the harness away from vibrating parts.
  • Replace shift solenoid G if it fails intermittently during temperature-related testing.
  • Repair an intermittent circuit connection identified during continuity checks.

Can I keep driving?

Limit driving if the warning returns or shift behavior changes, and avoid towing or hard acceleration until the intermittent fault is diagnosed. The circuit may drop out suddenly and cause harsh shifts or limp mode.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
