OBD-II fault code

C064D: Brake Pressure Sensor N Circuit/Open

What it means

The module monitors the electrical circuit for brake pressure sensor N. It sets this code when it detects an open circuit or loss of the sensor’s electrical connection.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Brake pressure sensor N sends a pressure signal to the brake control module for ABS and stability functions. This code sets when the module detects an open circuit or loses the electrical connection to sensor N.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Wire broken
  2. Pin pushed back out of connector body
  3. Cracked solder joint inside the module or sensor

Symptoms

  • ABS warning light on
  • ESC/stability control deactivated
  • Possible reduced brake assist
  • Speedometer may behave erratically

How to diagnose it

  1. Capture freeze-frame data and check live sensor N data to confirm whether its reading is missing or drops out.
  2. Inspect sensor N’s connector for a loose fit, a pushed-back pin, corrosion, or damage to the connector body.
  3. Trace the sensor N harness and look for a broken wire, pulled connection, or damage near bends and attachment points.
  4. Use the wiring diagram to check continuity through sensor N’s signal and associated circuits, with the circuit isolated as specified by the manufacturer.
  5. If the external wiring is intact, test sensor N and the control-module connection for an internal open or cracked joint using the manufacturer's procedure.

Common fixes

  • Reconnect and secure a loose sensor N connector.
  • Repair a broken wire or terminal in the sensor N circuit.
  • Replace a connector with a pin that will not retain contact.
  • Replace sensor N or repair the module only after testing confirms an internal open.

Can I keep driving?

The brake system may still provide basic braking, but ABS and stability control may be unavailable and brake assist may be reduced. Drive only as needed to reach a safe place for repair, and stop if pedal feel or braking changes.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
