OBD-II fault code

C060B: Left Park Brake Actuator Control Circuit/Open

What it means

The control module monitors the left park brake actuator control circuit. It sets this code when it detects an open circuit in the control path.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

The left park brake actuator applies or releases the brake at the left wheel under control of the brake module. C060B sets when the module detects a break in the left actuator's control path, leaving the electrical circuit open.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Wiring break
  2. Pin pushed back out of connector body
  3. Cracked solder joint inside the module or sensor

Symptoms

  • ABS warning light on
  • ESC/stability control deactivated
  • Possible reduced brake assist
  • Speedometer may behave erratically

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and check live left park brake actuator status for a failed command or missing response.
  2. Inspect the left actuator connector and harness for a broken wire, loose plug, corrosion, or a terminal pushed back into the connector.
  3. Gently move the left actuator harness while monitoring circuit status to see whether contact returns or drops out.
  4. Check continuity through the left actuator control circuit using the manufacturer's wiring information and procedure.
  5. If the external wiring and connections pass, test the left actuator and module connection for an internal open.

Common fixes

  • Repair a broken wire in the left park brake actuator circuit.
  • Reseat or replace a connector terminal that has pushed back or lost contact.
  • Clean and secure a corroded or loose left actuator connector.
  • Replace a faulty left actuator if its internal circuit is open.
  • Repair a confirmed internal module connection fault.

Can I keep driving?

A fault at the left park brake actuator can leave that wheel's parking brake unable to apply or release, and stability functions may be limited. Do not drive if the brake is dragging, the vehicle will not hold when parked, or braking feels abnormal; arrange prompt repair.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
