OBD-II fault code

C0611: Right Park Brake Actuator Control Circuit Low

What it means

Right EPB actuator control voltage below expected range. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

The right park brake actuator control circuit carries the command used to operate the right-side parking brake actuator. C0611 indicates that the module detects circuit voltage below its expected range, which can occur with a short to ground or excess resistance in the connection.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Wiring shorted to ground
  2. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
  3. Harness chafing through insulation

Symptoms

  • ABS warning light on
  • ESC/stability control deactivated
  • Possible reduced brake assist
  • Speedometer may behave erratically

How to diagnose it

  1. Use a brake-capable scan tool to record freeze-frame data and check whether C0611 returns during a right actuator command.
  2. Inspect the right actuator harness and connector for chafing, water intrusion, corrosion, pushed-back pins, or a loose fit.
  3. Check battery and charging-system condition, then inspect the park brake module's relevant supply and ground connections.
  4. With the circuit identified from vehicle service information, measure its voltage and continuity against the manufacturer's specification.
  5. If the fault changes while gently moving the right actuator harness, isolate the damaged section and check for a short to ground or high-resistance connection.

Common fixes

  • Clean and securely reconnect corroded or loose right actuator connector terminals.
  • Repair chafed insulation or a right actuator wire shorted to ground.
  • Replace damaged connector terminals or repair a high-resistance harness connection.
  • Replace the right actuator only if circuit tests show it is faulty.

Can I keep driving?

The right parking brake actuator may not operate, and ABS or stability functions may be limited. Do not rely on the parking brake to hold the vehicle; drive only if normal braking is intact and only as needed to reach a safe repair location.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
