OBD-II fault code

C060C: Left Park Brake Actuator Control Circuit Low

What it means

Left EPB actuator control voltage below expected range. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

The left park brake actuator controls the parking brake at the left wheel, and the module monitors its electrical control circuit. C060C sets when the left actuator circuit voltage is lower than expected, often because the signal is shorted to ground or a connection has excessive resistance.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Wiring shorted to ground
  2. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
  3. Harness chafing through insulation

Symptoms

  • ABS warning light on
  • ESC/stability control deactivated
  • Possible reduced brake assist
  • Speedometer may behave erratically

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and check live left park brake actuator status to identify when the low circuit reading occurs.
  2. Inspect the left actuator wiring for chafing, pinching, or insulation damage that could let the circuit contact ground.
  3. Check the left actuator connector for corrosion, loose contacts, or damaged seals.
  4. Gently move the harness while monitoring scan data to see whether the low reading changes.
  5. Test the left control circuit for a short to ground and check its connections against the manufacturer's procedure.

Common fixes

  • Repair a left actuator wire shorted to ground or worn through by chafing.
  • Clean or repair corroded or loose left actuator connector terminals.
  • Replace a damaged connector seal and secure the harness away from rubbing points.
  • Replace the left actuator or repair the module only if circuit testing confirms the fault is internal.

Can I keep driving?

The left parking brake may not apply or release correctly, and stability functions may be limited. Avoid driving if the brake is dragging or the vehicle will not hold when parked; have the circuit checked promptly.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
