What it means
The control module monitors the brake pressure sensor G circuit. It sets this code when it detects an open circuit in the sensor signal path.
At a glance
- Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Brake pressure sensor G sends a signal through its circuit so the control module can monitor hydraulic pressure. C0635 is set when the module detects an open in that signal path, such as a broken wire, a connector pin that has backed out, or an internal connection failure.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Wire broken
- Pin pushed back out of connector body
- Cracked solder joint inside the module or sensor
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
How to diagnose it
- Read ABS module freeze-frame data and check whether sensor G's live value is missing or fixed, along with any related sensor codes.
- Inspect the sensor G connector for a pin pushed back into the housing, corrosion, or a plug that is not fully seated.
- Follow the sensor G harness and look for a broken, stretched, or damaged signal wire.
- Check signal-path continuity and connector terminal fit using the manufacturer's wiring diagram and test procedure.
- If the external circuit is intact, inspect the sensor and module connections for an internal open or cracked connection as directed by the manufacturer.
Common fixes
- Reseat the sensor G connector and secure its terminals.
- Repair a broken or damaged sensor G signal wire.
- Replace a connector terminal or harness section that cannot maintain contact.
- Repair or replace the sensor or module if testing confirms an internal open.
Can I keep driving?
The ABS module may not have usable pressure information from sensor G, so ABS and stability functions can be limited and braking assistance may be affected. Drive cautiously and stop if brake feel changes or the vehicle does not slow normally.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
