OBD-II fault code

C063F: Brake Pressure Sensor J Circuit Low

What it means

Brake pressure sensor J signal voltage below expected range. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Brake pressure sensor J sends its pressure signal to the brake control module for ABS and stability control. C063F sets when the signal is below its expected range, commonly due to a signal wire short to ground or a poor connector contact.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Signal wire shorted to ground
  2. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
  3. Harness chafing through insulation

Symptoms

  • ABS warning light on
  • ESC/stability control deactivated
  • Possible reduced brake assist
  • Speedometer may behave erratically

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and compare sensor J’s live pressure signal with other available pressure channels.
  2. With the code active, gently move the sensor J harness while watching the live signal for dropouts or changes.
  3. Inspect sensor J’s wiring for chafed insulation, moisture, corroded contacts, and terminals pushed back in the connector.
  4. Check the sensor J signal wire for a short to ground and inspect connector contacts using the vehicle’s wiring diagram.
  5. If wiring and connections are intact, test sensor J and the module input following the manufacturer’s procedure.

Common fixes

  • Repair chafed or damaged sensor J wiring.
  • Clean or repair corroded or loose connector terminals and restore the seal.
  • Repair a signal wire short to ground.
  • Replace sensor J or repair a confirmed module input fault.

Can I keep driving?

Basic braking may remain, but ABS and stability control can be disabled and brake assist may be reduced. Drive cautiously and arrange prompt diagnosis; stop if braking feels abnormal.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
