What is the Volkswagen T-Roc?

The T-Roc is a compact SUV in Volkswagen’s passenger-car range. Its raised body and flexible cabin make it suited to everyday driving and family trips. Volkswagen positions it between the smaller T-Cross and the larger Tiguan.

The first generation arrived in 2017. The second generation, presented in 2025, brought a new design, more cabin space and updated technology. Its European range uses hybrid drive systems, including mild hybrids at launch.

T-Roc generations

The first generation (2017–2025) introduced the T-Roc to EU, UK and French markets. Its range included petrol and diesel engines, while EU figures also list hybrid and E85 flex-fuel versions.

The second generation (2025–today) is a full redesign. Volkswagen’s European range uses hybrid drive systems throughout, with new cabin and driver-assistance technology.

Engines, power and official consumption

EU figures list engines from 1.0 to 2.0 litres and power from 81 kW (110 PS) to 221 kW (300 PS). The UK range spans 1.0 to 2.0 litres and 85 kW (115 PS) to 221 kW (300 PS). French figures list engines from 1.0 to 2.0 litres and power from 81 kW (110 PS) to 110 kW (150 PS).

The lowest listed EU consumption is 4.3 L/100 km on WLTP. The UK’s lowest listed figure is 4.4 L/100 km on NEDC, while the French figure is 4.3 L/100 km on WLTP. WLTP and NEDC are different procedures, so figures from the two cycles are not directly comparable.

Where was the T-Roc sold?

EU registration figures cover 2017–2025, UK figures cover 2018–2026, and French figures cover 2026. EU registrations total 2,021,404 over that period.
