What is the Toyota Urban Cruiser?

The Urban Cruiser name has been used for two compact SUVs in Europe. The first was a small petrol- and diesel-powered SUV; the name returned for a battery-electric compact SUV. Toyota’s UK history of the first model describes it as sharing a platform with the second-generation Yaris.

The first generation, code XP110, ran from 2009 to 2014. The second generation began in 2025. The change from petrol and diesel engines to battery-electric power gives the revived name a different role in Toyota’s range.

Engines and power

The first-generation EU versions use engines from 1.3 L to 1.4 L, with power from 66 kW (90 PS) to 128 kW (174 PS). Petrol and diesel versions appear in the UK and France too. The strongest listed UK figure is 128 kW (174 PS), while French figures range from 66 kW (90 PS) to 73 kW (99 PS).

The most registered EU configurations include a 1.4 L diesel, a 1.4 L diesel rated at 66 kW (90 PS), and a 1.3 L petrol version. The UK listing for the revived name also includes electric power.

How economical is the Toyota Urban Cruiser?

The lowest listed consumption is 4.9 L/100 km on NEDC in the UK and 4.5 L/100 km on NEDC in France. NEDC is an older European test procedure, so these figures are not directly comparable with results on newer WLTP tests. Official EU registration figures span 2010–2025 and total 39,962 registrations.

The original Urban Cruiser brought SUV styling and a taller body to a compact car. The revived electric version carries the name into a different powertrain era.

Where was the Toyota Urban Cruiser sold?

The first generation appears in EU, UK and French figures. EU figures span 2010–2025, UK figures 2010–2026, and French figures cover 2012. The second-generation name is listed for Europe and the UK from 2025 as an electric compact SUV.
