What is the Renault Grand Espace?
The Grand Espace is the longer version of Renault’s large Espace people carrier, with a spacious, flexible cabin for passengers and luggage. Espace has a distinctive place in Renault’s history: the first generation arrived in 1984 and helped establish the modern European people carrier. The fourth generation, introduced in 2002, gave the large family van a more contemporary interpretation.
The Grand Espace IV generation covered here ran from 2010 to 2012 and carried the J81 code.
Engines and power
European Union registration figures cover five versions with 2.0 L engines, offered with petrol or diesel. The diesel led registrations in each listed EU year. UK figures cover 32 versions from 2000 to 2010, with petrol and diesel engines from 2.0 L to 3.5 L.
Fuel consumption and CO₂
The lowest listed UK fuel consumption is 7.1 L/100 km on the NEDC test, among petrol, diesel and hybrid versions. European registration figures do not provide a CO₂ or fuel-consumption value for the Grand Espace. NEDC and WLTP use different test procedures, so their results are not directly comparable.
Where was the Grand Espace sold?
The Grand Espace appears in UK VCA figures and European Economic Area registration figures. The UK figures cover 2000 to 2010, while the EU registration figures cover 2010 to 2012. The Grand Espace IV generation covered here ran from 2010 to 2012.
