What is the Kia EV6?

The EV6 is a fully electric crossover, with a raised stance and hatchback practicality. It was Kia’s first model developed as a dedicated battery electric vehicle, rather than adapted from a petrol or diesel car. Its long wheelbase and flat floor make room for a spacious cabin, and its exterior introduced Kia’s “Opposites United” design direction, pairing sharp details with flowing forms.

The EV6 sits in the larger part of Kia’s electric-car range. It is offered with a choice of power outputs, and every version in the markets listed here is electric. Kia’s E-GMP platform brought 800-volt charging capability to the model.

EV6 generations

The EV6 has one generation: the first, identified by the code CV, introduced for 2022 and continuing today. Kia unveiled the model in 2021. It was the first dedicated Kia EV built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform, marking a shift towards purpose-built electric cars in the company’s line-up.

Power and official figures

All EV6 versions are electric, so there are no engine sizes or fuel-consumption figures in litres per 100 kilometres. The stated power range varies by market: EU versions span 42 kW (57 PS) to 478 kW (650 PS), UK versions 168–585 kW (228–795 PS), French versions 42–143 kW (57–194 PS), and Canadian versions 125–430 kW (170–585 PS). These ranges reflect the versions listed for each country and are not necessarily a like-for-like comparison.

Official efficiency and range figures for electric cars depend on the market’s test procedure. Europe uses WLTP or, for older figures, NEDC; the US uses EPA testing, and Canada uses its 5-cycle procedure.

Where was the EV6 sold?

The EV6 appears in figures for the EU, UK, France, US and Canada. EU registrations cover 2021–2025; UK figures span 2021–2026; French figures list 2026; US figures cover 2022–2026; and Canada’s run from 2022 to 2025. EU registrations show the 168 kW (228 PS) electric version among the leading configurations in 2022–2023 and again in 2024.

Questions and answers

Is the Kia EV6 fully electric?

Yes. Every version listed for the EU, UK, France, US and Canada is electric.

How many EV6 generations are there?

One: the first generation, code CV, introduced for 2022 and continuing today.

How much power does the EV6 have?

It depends on market: the stated range is 42–478 kW in the EU, 168–585 kW in the UK, 42–143 kW in France, and 125–430 kW in Canada.

Does the EV6 have a fuel-consumption figure in L/100 km?

No. It is electric. Official efficiency and range are assessed under market-specific procedures such as WLTP, EPA and Canada’s 5-cycle test.

Official figures are measured on standard test procedures and differ between markets. Your consumption depends on how, where and in what conditions you drive.
