What is the BMW i5?
The i5 is the all-electric version of BMW’s 5 Series saloon. It brings the four-door layout and everyday practicality of the 5 Series together with battery-electric drive. BMW places it in its i electric-car family while it retains the 5 Series’ role as a business and family car.
The i5 shares its generation’s design and digital cabin with the 5 Series, including BMW’s Curved Display. The range also includes a Touring estate version in some markets.
Generation and power
The i5’s first generation is based on the G60 5 Series and began in 2024. It brought a fully electric option to the 5 Series range, with different motor outputs across the versions.
