What it means
The input circuit of the inductive charger reports a range/performance condition. Mains input power outside calibration or rectifier drift.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The inductive charger's input circuit monitors the power entering the charger before it is converted for battery charging. P2D37 sets when the input signal or measured input performance falls outside calibration, which may reflect unstable supply power, rectifier drift, or a sensor whose readings have aged out of range.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Mains voltage outside spec
- Rectifier output drift
- Sensor element aged beyond calibration window
Symptoms
- EV/hybrid system warning light on
- Reduced power output or limp mode
- Charging may fail or be slowed
- Reduced electric range
How to diagnose it
- Check freeze-frame data and related charging codes to see whether the fault occurred at the vehicle, charging pad, or during a change in charging conditions.
- Use live data during a supported charge to review the charger's input reading and compare it with its expected operating range.
- Inspect the charging pad's supply connection and accessible vehicle-side charger wiring for damage, loose connections, or signs of overheating.
- If the issue occurs at one charging location, try an approved known-good supply or pad to help distinguish a supply problem from a vehicle fault.
- Have the charger rectifier and input sensor tested against the manufacturer's specifications if the supply and wiring check out.
Common fixes
- Correct a loose or damaged charging supply connection.
- Use a functioning approved charging supply if testing points to the external supply.
- Repair or replace damaged charger input wiring or connectors.
- Replace a rectifier or sensor that fails the manufacturer's checks.
Can I keep driving?
The input fault may prevent or slow charging, so do not assume the battery will reach its expected range before a trip. If the vehicle has reduced power, avoid strenuous driving and stop safely if a high-voltage warning or loss of drive power occurs.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
