What it means
The inductive charger reports a input voltage low condition. Inductive charging cannot proceed reliably.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
The inductive charger receives an electrical supply that it converts into power for charging the hybrid or EV battery. P2EB5 sets when the charger reports that its input supply is below the range it needs, so inductive charging may be limited or stopped.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Low or unstable charger input supply
- Charger or wiring fault
Symptoms
- Hybrid/EV system warning may appear
- Inductive charging may be unavailable or limited
How to diagnose it
- Read hybrid or EV and charger codes, including freeze-frame or event data, to determine whether low input voltage occurred during a particular charging attempt.
- Check the vehicle’s displayed charging status and supply conditions, and confirm that the charging pad or supply equipment is operating as specified.
- Inspect accessible charger input connectors and wiring for looseness, corrosion, damage or signs of overheating.
- Measure the charger input supply under the conditions specified by the manufacturer and compare it with the manufacturer’s specification.
- If the supply and wiring are correct, test the charger input circuitry and related control data to isolate a charger fault.
Common fixes
- Restore a stable, correctly connected power supply to the inductive charger.
- Reconnect or repair a loose or damaged charger input connector or wire.
- Repair a supply circuit fault identified by testing.
- Replace the inductive charger if its input remains low despite a correct supply and sound wiring.
Can I keep driving?
Inductive charging may be unavailable or restricted, but this code alone does not necessarily mean the vehicle cannot be driven. Use an approved alternative charging method and avoid relying on inductive charging until the supply fault is corrected.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
