What it means
The hybrid battery inductive charger control circuit reports a range/performance condition. Charger response or feedback outside calibration.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The inductive charger control circuit carries the signals the hybrid or EV controller uses to regulate and check wireless battery charging. The controller sets P2D34 when the circuit feedback or charger response falls outside its calibrated range, which can happen with a drifting signal, poor pad alignment, or an aging sensor.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Feedback signal drifted
- Pad alignment offset from optimal
- Sensor element aged beyond calibration window
Symptoms
- EV/hybrid system warning light on
- Reduced power output or limp mode
- Charging may fail or be slowed
- Reduced electric range
How to diagnose it
- Read freeze-frame data and related hybrid charging codes to see whether the fault occurred during charging and under what conditions.
- Check live charger-control feedback during a supported charging session and compare it with the commanded response for signs of drift or an out-of-range value.
- Inspect the vehicle and charging-pad surfaces for debris, damage, or a position that could leave the pads misaligned.
- Check accessible charger-control connectors and wiring for looseness, corrosion, moisture, or damage that could distort the feedback.
- If alignment and wiring look sound, have the charger sensor and control circuit tested against the manufacturer's specification.
Common fixes
- Remove debris and position the vehicle correctly over the charging pad.
- Reseat or repair a loose or damaged charger-control connector or wire.
- Replace a sensor element that fails the manufacturer's calibration checks.
- Repair or replace the charger control assembly if its feedback remains out of range.
Can I keep driving?
If the vehicle has reduced power or enters limp mode, avoid high-speed driving and use another charging method if available. Charging may slow or fail, reducing electric range; stop safely if the vehicle warns of a high-voltage fault or loses drive power.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
